GrokiPedia, a brand-new AI-powered encyclopedia is launched and its created by Elon Musk’s company xAI.
The world of online knowledge just got a dramatic twist. On October 27, 2025 tech billionaire Elon Musk the man behind Tesla, SpaceX and X(Twitter) officially launched GrokiPedia. Described as “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.” GrokiPedia aims to take on Wikipedia head-on. Powered entirely by Musk’s artificial-intelligence system “Grok.” It promises facts written and verified by AI instead of human editors, within hours of launch the platform went viral across X and tech forums with users calling it “Wikipedia 2.0” while others questioned whether AI can really define the truth.

What is GrokiPedia?
GrokiPedia is an AI-powered online encyclopedia developed by xAI. It position itself as “truth-seeking” alternative of Wikipedia. Instead of humans writing and editing like on Wikipedia, AI going to do all the work here it will writes, edits and even it fact-checks the articles.
The platform launched it’s first version v0.1 on 27 October 2025 with over 885,000 articles already live on day one. With Oct 28, 2025 it’s feature approximately 885,000 to 900,000 articles. Many articles are derived from Wikipedia content (licensed under Creative Commons) with AI modifications by Grok.
Why did Elon Musk create it?
Elon Musk has often accused Wikipedia of being “biased” and “politically influenced.” He believes some topics on Wikipedia are written from one side of the story. So, he decided to build something that he calls a neutral, AI-driven encyclopedia where facts are handled by artificial intelligence not by human opinions.
“GrokiPedia will be a massive improvement over Wikipedia – a necessary step towards understanding the Universe.” – Elon musk on X(Twitter)
For Musk, this isn’t just another website or company it’s open source and his way of changing how the world accesses information.
Wikipedia vs GrokiPedia
1. Operator & Goal: Wikipedia is run by a non-profit focusing on human-curated neutrality, while GrokiPedia is run by Elon Musk’s for-profit xAI, aiming for “truth-seeking” with a skeptical view of mainstream media.
2. Content Creation: Wikipedia is written and edited by human volunteers. GrokiPedia is entirely generated and updated in real-time by its AI Grok, with no current human editing.
3. Source & Bias: Wikipedia uses cited, traditional sources and has a policy to neutralize bias. GrokiPedia heavily rewrites Wikipedia’s content and incorporates live web data, often resulting in a right-leaning perspective on controversial topics.
4. Transparency: Wikipedia offers full transparency with public edit histories and discussion pages. GrokiPedia does not show an edit history, but the AI provides a “confidence score” for its claims.
5. Depth vs Breadth: Wikipedia has a much larger number of articles due to its long history. GrokiPedia often provides longer, more in-depth articles on the topics it covers with a focus on current events.
6. Current State: Wikipedia is a stable, reliable encyclopedia. GrokiPedia is a very new beta product, making it faster for real-time information but more prone to potential AI errors and bias.

Internet Reactions
As always, the internet had mixed feelings. Supporters are calling it a “revolution in truth tech”, while critics are asking, “Can AI really understand the facts?”
Some journalists noticed that many GrokiPedia pages are copied or adapted from Wikipedia, even Wikipedia conform say it on his page. While others point out small factual errors in AI-written pages. Still, Musk fans are calling it “the future of online knowledge.”
What does it mean for India?
India has one of the world’s largest groups of students, bloggers and content creators who depend on Wikipedia for information. If GrokiPedia grows fast, it could become a new go-to source for study material, project help and content references.
But there’s a flip side – AI content isn’t always 100% accurate. If the data behind GrokiPedia isn’t checked properly, it could spread wrong information very quickly. So, for now Indians are curious but cautious as always.
Still, this launch has opened the door for Indian creators and educators to explore “AI-based knowledge” – maybe even build their own regional versions.
Conclusion
With Grokipedia, Elon Musk and xAI are trying to rewrite the rulebook of what an encyclopedia can be. It’s bold and risky for India’s digital community, it’s a moment to watch and engage with and maybe profit from.
In the era where AI is writing knowledge, the question becomes “Who writes the writers?” And “if AI writes the truth, who’s going to checks it?”
